My pick of Camden’s best restaurants and bars for 2017.
One of my favourite things about Camden is its food scene. It’s certainly never dull! From egg porn brunches to exotic cocktails, street food and mesmerising ice cream, I’ve eaten my way around Camden all in the name of research. So whether you’re looking for an awesome Sunday roast, Camden’s best curry house or just need to grab a quick coffee to start your day, enjoy my guide to Camden’s hottest food and drink spots.
I’ll admit this was a tough category to judge! Camden has some great brunch spots, with special mentions going to The Blues Kitchen (for when you need a big feed) and Made Bar and Kitchen at the Roundhouse. But for the best coffee in Camden, Instagram-worthy egg porn and delicious smashed avo on toast, head to Leyas.

Christmas may have been and gone but there are still some great wintry events in the capital. The Winter Festival continues at the Southbank Centre, with one of the highlights being Adventures in Moominland. The fun exhibition invites people to get lost inside the eccentric world of Moominland with a chance to clamber through forests, huddle in caves and set sail on the high seas! If you’ve not squeezed in a spot of ice skating over Christmas, many of London’s best ice rinks are still open for a little while longer. The Artichoke has consistently been rated as the best restaurant in the Amersham area. After an impressive experience in January, I couldn’t wait to sample their autumn menu.
Amersham’s old town offers a range of dining options. Along with upmarket coffee house The Grocer, chain restaurants Cote, Prezzo and Ask, and several historic pubs, there’s a gourmet neighbourhood offering – The Artichoke.
Chef Patron Laurie Gear and his wife Jacqueline opened the Artichoke in 2002. The restaurant focuses on high quality, beautifully presented seasonal dishes, served with a dash of magic. I visited on a weekday evening to sample the seven-course autumnal tasting menu (with wine pairings). But first… a glass of rosé champagne to kick off a very special dining experience.
The best events, food, music and festive cheer in London in December 2016.
London’s ice rinks have reappeared, the lights are on, shoppers are maniacally doing Santa’s work for him and everyone’s knocking back mulled wine like it’s water. It might feel like all eyes are on the 25th now, but in the run up, there are still plenty of things to do in London this December.
Go Ice Skating
From the historic settings of the Tower of London, Hampton Court and the Natural History Museum to the magical illuminated rink at Canary Wharf, there are plenty of opportunities to get your skates on this month. For a really glam experience head to Somerset House and enjoy a Fortnum and Mason’s afternoon tea after skating on the rink in the courtyard.
