This summer is shaping up to be an extra special one!
Is it really May already? How did this happen? After planning to slow down a little in 2016, I ended up visiting Morocco, France, Chile, Argentina, Sweden, St Martin and St Kitts all in the space of a few months. It was an accident I promise!
I’m really enjoying being back home at the moment, but guess what? It’s shaping up to be one big summer of adventures…
So what’s coming up?
Well firstly, I’ve spent the best part of the last four months overindulging. South America was all about huge steaks and red wine, while the Caribbean was about cocktails and carbs. I’m a firm believer that you should stick to what you’re good at, and it just so happens that I’m much better at drinking on a beach than exercising… See?
TIME TO CHANGE
But now, I’ve decided enough is enough. It’s time to drag myself around Regent’s Park a couple of times a week. On an impromptu shopping trip last week, I picked up some great designer running gear at TK Maxx (as part of their new Ridiculous Possibilities campaign). They’d just had a new delivery of outdoor brands that were perfect for my new fitness plans and upcoming adventures. TK Maxx receive several deliveries a week so it felt like a bit of a treasure hunt. I ended up picking up more than planned, just in case it was gone when I went back! (Yep, just trying to justify my spending…!)
All I really needed was a sleeping bag and a jacket for another trip (more about that shortly), but once I started shopping, let’s just say I ended up finding exactly what I wasn’t looking for!
I took my funky new patterned leggings, bright trainers and running jacket out for a test run over the bank holiday in the countryside. There’s nothing like a new outfit to boost your confidence and motivation. While I’m certainly feeling the strain from the first few runs, I’m hoping to improve my fitness as my next trips are a little more athletic. It was a sunny weekend, so I was really pleased I picked up some designer sunglasses (even better – one pair was reduced from £75 to £25!)
UPCOMING TRAVELS AND ADVENTURES
My next two trips are short breaks to Barcelona and Helsinki. Barcelona is my favourite European city. I can’t wait to wander the cobbled streets of the Gothic Quarter again, hopping from tapas bar to tapas bar. After a whistle-stop tour of Helsinki last year, I’m looking forward to spending more time there, and get out and explore some of the surrounding lakes and countryside.
Then in June I’m heading off on an all-American road trip! Oh yesss! I’ve only visited the states a few times, but this time it’s official – west coast is the best coast! I’ll be kicking off in L.A. and making my way up to San Francisco.
I’m a little apprehensive about this trip as it involves camping. Can you believe I’ve NEVER camped before? To prepare, I picked up a load of camping gear from TK Maxx including a super lightweight sleeping bag, jacket, micro-fibre towel and a cool backpack – more bargains thankfully! The landscapes in Big Sur and Yosemite look out of this world – I just can’t wait to unzip the tent each day, gaze out, and take it all in.
Then, towards the end of June I’m heading back to sunny Croatia where I’ll be doing some work for a big travel brand. From medieval Dubrovnik to party island Hvar, there was so much to see and do when I visited last year. I’ve got a different agenda this time, as I’ll be heading to Hideout Festival. I can’t wait to dance on the beach to the likes of Jamie XX, Julio Bashmore and Jamie Jones. I picked up a hot new bikini, some green mirrored sunnies and a Bluetooth speaker – perfect for a few daytime sessions.
Finally, at the end of July I’m heading to Rotterdam for Rotterdam Unlimited – a big music and dance festival, which even features its own carnival! I’ve not visited the city before, but being a quarter Dutch, I’ve always felt strangely at home in the Netherlands.
So that’s how the next few months are shaping up. So many adventures… I really can’t wait. When I look back to my life a few years ago, slaving away in an office and on call 24/7 it seems worlds away from this lifestyle. It just goes to show anything is possible… even the most #RidiculousPossibilities!
Keep an eye on my blog for all the stories, photos and videos from my upcoming adventures!
