From the design and fit, to the stats and tracking, find out what I really thought of the Luna Smart Ring Gen 2.
I’ve always been curious about wearable tech, but I’ve never owned any. I haven’t got an Apple Watch or a Garmin. While friends have invested in these fancy items, I haven’t felt I needed to. They’ve been preaching to me about their sleep tracking and fitness goals.
The last year or so, I’ve started to wonder if I’ve been missing out. My husband loves his fitness watch. It syncs with Strava and tracks his exercise. So, I finally decided to give it a go. Rather than a watch, I wanted to try something more stylish! A Luna Smart Ring Gen 2.
This is rated as one of the best smart rings available right now. It’s made from sturdy titanium, and comes in a choice of five colours, from masculine lunar black to a pretty rose gold. The ring’s sensors offer detailed tracking, including sleep, skin temperature and heart rate. It’ll even measure your stress levels.

You can also log information using Siri, by talking directly to the ring. It’s the only ring on the market that can do that! Plus, you don’t need a costly subscription to access all of the data, unlike some of its competitors, such as Oura.
In this review, I’ll share how I’ve found wearing the Luna Smart Ring, its functionality and who it’s suited to. If you’re considering buying one, this review will definitely help you!

Luna Smart Ring Gen 2 Review
Ordering my Luna Smart Ring Gen 2
After I placed my order, I was sent a ring sizer in the post. When you’re spending a significant amount on a piece of tech, you’d expect every part of the user journey to feel premium. Well, it did!
The ring sizer box arrived and was a chic midnight blue slider, with 10 different rings inside, each labelled with a size number. It’s recommended you wear the ring on your index finger. With size 8 fitting snugly, I put in my order and waited for my ring to arrive.

Unboxing the Luna Smart Ring Gen 2
A few days later, my ring arrived, and again excitement levels were high! Another midnight blue box with silver embossing. Inside was the charging case, which revealed a white light when opened. The shiny rose gold ring sat inside. It was a bit of a wow moment – so bright and shiny!
It was very quick to pair to the Luna app on my phone using Bluetooth. Then, all the insights started popping up. It was very exciting to see data in real time!

Design and Fit
I was impressed by the fit of my size 8 Luna ring. It actually fit perfectly on both my index fingers, which I was pleased about, as it means I can switch between them depending on what I’m doing.
The design is striking, with one diagonal wave design across the centre. It looks like a proper piece of jewellery. I wear a lot of rings (wedding ring, engagement ring, another sparkly one and some stacking rings), so I thought I’d like the feel of another. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was a lot chunkier than my other rings. I’d love it to be a little slimmer and daintier, but I guess this is the only way when there are all the sensors to include!

Features of the Luna Smart Ring Gen 2
The Luna ring is packed full of great features. Here are a few you might be interested in.
Health monitoring sensors — The ring tracks heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, stress, activity and recovery.
Advanced sleep tracking — It monitors the various sleep stages, recovery, HRV and sleep efficiency. It then uploads detailed insights to the app.
Long battery life — The first time I wore it, the ring lasted almost 7 days without a charge. Once it was under 10%, I charged it in the case. This was very quick, so I didn’t miss much data.
Women’s health tracking — You can track things including your periods, cycle and fertility.
Water resistant — It’s water-resistant up to 50 meters, and you can wear it for all workouts.
AI-powered wellness insights — The app has a built in AI assistant, so you can ask questions about tour data and lifestyle.

Sleep Tracking on the Luna Smart Ring
At this point I should mention I’m a busy mum of two young children. I have a 3-year-old son and a 7-month-old baby. Needless to say, my sleep isn’t in the best place right now! One day I’ll get a full night’s sleep, right?!
After the first few nights of wearing my Luna Ring I was so excited to check the app to find out how I slept! Obviously, I knew I’d been up a few times, but I didn’t know things like when my light, deep or REM sleep was. It was fascinating to see so much data about a time I was in bed!

After seeing the stats, I wanted to learn more! I found out that deep sleep is most important for physical recovery but REM sleep is most important for brain function and mental recovery. I definitely noticed a difference when these markers were down.
So, how accurate is it? It’s a bit mixed! I think a lot of the data is accurate, but there are times where I’ve been lying in bed not moving, and it’s recording that as light sleep. I can’t see how it would know whether I was awake or asleep at those moments though!
After a week of wearing the ring, the app’s ‘sleep planner’ updated with recommended bed times and wake times. I think for anyone who sleeps well, this could be very useful, but I’m in a time of broken sleep, so when it suggested a bedtime of 11.30pm, I laughed! When I’m up at 2 or 5 feeding our baby, there’s no way I’d last until 11.30pm!

Fitness Tracking
I’m a keen walker and runner, and I’ve loved seeing the data pop up from my runs and walks. The runs in particular, show my different heart rates and calories burned. I’ve also found it encourages me to move more, as it suggests that you move for 2-3 minutes every hour. It will show a warning on the app if you’re not doing this.

Using the Luna App
I found the App really easy to use. While it collects all of the data from the ring automatically, there are ways to add data manually or by using Siri. This can be anything from logging your caffeine, alcohol or water intake, to specific exercises, medication, or supplements you’re taking.
This is the first smart ring which links to Siri, so you can literally talk to the ring and it’ll log info in the app. This really speeds up the process if you want to track a lot of extra data.

My personal thoughts on the Luna Smart Ring Gen 2
What I loved about it
As I was so new to wearable tech, I was totally fascinated by the data. I loved seeing how doing an activity could increase my stress levels, or how one night of sleep could differ from another. I liked the way it told me when my caffeine windows were, based on my intended bedtimes. The built in AI assistant gave me some helpful tips and advice, too.
I was impressed by the long battery life. It was something I could wear pretty much 24/7 and not worry about. It’s also very durable. I’ve worn it for so many activities, from washing up and gardening, to playing on the beach and cooking. It still looks shiny and new!
I also enjoyed the way it became a talking point with friends and family after they spotted it! We had lots of interesting discussions about how wearable tech could aid our lives.

I didn’t get the chance to trial the fertility / cycle tracking during this month as I’m post-partum. I have friends who have found this tracking very useful though.

What I didn’t love
I think a lot of these things are personal, so what I was less keen on, you might be fine with! I found the size of the ring a little chunky for my personal taste. I’m also not that keen on wearing a ring on my index finger as it looks less dainty there. I know you can wear them on a middle finger, but then it would rub against my other rings.
I had a few alarming moments where I opened the app and it showed my skin temperature had spiked or my blood oxygen had dropped below the recommended level. I’m not a particularly anxious person, but if you are, I think these notifications could scare you a little!
The app offers notifications, which will say things like ‘Your readiness is excellent this morning – your body is primed for an energetic day ahead’. On some days, I found these messages motivating, on others they were frustrating, as I didn’t feel my mindset matched up with the suggestions.

Who is the Luna Smart Ring best for?
I’ve had a good think about this! After wearing mine for a month, I think these are the people this ring is most suited to.
- People who want 24/7 health tracking without wearing a smartwatch
- People who are interested in sleep quality and recovery insights (sleep stages, rest, readiness) as the accuracy is very high
- Those interested in stress, heart rate, and body temperature tracking for general wellness monitoring
- People who like discreet, minimalist wearables instead of screen-based devices
- People who want subscription-free health tracking
If you’re looking for a subscription-free smart watch, that looks stylish and tracks accurately, the Luna Smart Ring Gen 2 is a great purchase. It’s one of the market leaders and offers lots of data. Personally, I think one of the biggest decisions to make, is whether you like the style of ring. After all, you’ll be looking at it every single day!
