From cosy winter boots and versatile trainers to cushioned sandals, here are the seven essential pairs of shoes every woman needs in her wardrobe.
I strongly believe in keeping possessions to a minimum! This mindset might be influenced by my upcoming move and being in full decluttering mode. Clearing out my wardrobe has been an eye-opener, showing me just how few items I actually use regularly
I’ve really noticed this when it comes to footwear. I wear a couple of pairs of trainers on rotation, the odd pair of boots and some sandals if it’s warm.
If you’re also looking to slim down your wardrobe, I’m going to walk you through the shoes every girl should own (yes, literally!) From warm winter boots and casual trainers, to comfortable multipurpose sandals, you’ll only find seven items in this list. That’s all! Consider this a quick shopping list for you to tick off.
Most are inexpensive and hard-wearing. They’ll last a long time before you need to eye up a replacement. So, whether you have plans to trek rugged trails, brave the winter chill, enjoy some beach time or want something comfy to wear at home, these footwear options will cover every base!
The Ultimate Guide to Women’s Footwear for Every Adventure
1. Hiking Boots
Planning some outdoor adventures? You’ll need a pair of sturdy, waterproof hiking boots. These Columbia Newton Ridge hiking boots are some of my favourites.
They’re primarily designed for durability, but they’re really comfortable too. You can walk miles and miles, and your feet will be cushioned the whole way. The high-top design keeps your ankles encased too, so you’ll have decent support too.
If you’re not keen on the classic brown with red laces, there are several other colour options, including the super cute Stratus Canyon Rose, which have pink laces!
2. Winter Boots
When winter arrives, you need footwear that will withstand the elements. I really like the stylish yet functional winter boots made by outdoor brand Sorel. These Sorel Women’s Explorer Carnival winter boots will keep your feet warm and dry, no matter how cold or wet it is outside.
They feature insulation, have a faux fur top and thick rubber soles. I particularly like these because they’re lightweight. Some winter boots are really heavy and clumpy to wear, so can drag you down when you’re on an adventure! These will keep you mobile and active, whatever the weather!
3. Black Sports trainers
I have a pair of black and a pair of white trainers in my collection and I wear them both regularly. I think a simple black trainer is really useful as it goes with everything.
I’d recommend taking a look at the Skechers Get Connected sneakers, which offer the perfect blend of comfort and style. They’re nice and lightweight, have lots of cushioning and they’re even machine washable.
If you want a pair of trainers which will go with any outfit but also provide much-needed support for your days exploring, I can’t recommend these enough!
4. Comfortable sandals
Whether you’re visiting a warm country on holiday, or you’re looking for something supportive to wear in the summer months, these stylish sports sandals are a great pick.
These come in four neutral colours and have a really soft, memory foam insole. The padded straps are all adjustable too, so you can adapt the sandal to fit your foot shape. I really like that these ones also have a slight raised sole, as it gives a shortie like me a bit of extra height, while still being practical for being on my feet all day!
5. White trainers
I mentioned I have a pair of black and a pair of white trainers in my wardrobe staples. As this is my most-worn item of footwear, I’ve tried several different styles and brands over the years. Some of my faves have been Nike, Adidas and Puma.
Personally, I think the Puma Carina Trainers are some of the coolest around right now. They’re neutral, yet stylish. They add a contemporary edge to your outfit, without being a bold statement.
These are comfortable, durable and ideal for everyday wear. I’d pair them with a dress, shorts, trainers, skirts… maybe even a ball gown!
6. Smart black loafers
You might notice a lot of sporty / practical items on this list so far. Well, although I’m a bit of an adventure girl, I also like to wear smart shoes from time to time!
These plain black loafers have a padded insole made from memory foam, making them soft and practical for wearing all day. They’re virtually flat, with a tiny heel, and add a smart touch to any outfit. Personally, I like the suede option, but they also come in black and tan leather, as well as a fun leopard print style too.
7. Cosy slippers
Like many, I work from home. I’d be lost without my trusty pair of warm, cosy slippers! I used to wear boot-style slippers, but now I love a mule. They’re easy to slip on and off, ideal for busy mums who are running around a lot!
I adore this pair, which has a faux fur lining and a padded insole made from comfy memory foam. They’re springy and cushioned, all while keeping your feet toasty! They’re ideal for keeping your toes cosy when it’s cold outside.
