5 Amazing Things To Do In Bandung, Indonesia

Dusun Bambu, Bandung, Indonesia

With off-roading, chances to get to know the locals, tasty food and incredible landscapes, there are some amazing things to do in Bandung, Indonesia.

Bandung in Indonesia probably wasn’t on your holiday itinerary… but I think it should be!

It isn’t home to Bali’s sandy beaches. It’s not home to Yogyakarta’s famous temples. But just a few hours from Jakarta, the third biggest city in Indonesia offers a chance to get to grips with Indonesian culture, explore some dramatic landscapes while having plenty of fun! For me, it was the first big destination on the #TripOfWonders with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism… and wow did they have some adventures in store for us!

Indonesia: #TripOfWonders

Piaynemo, Raja Ampat

My Indonesian #TripOfWonders certainly lived up to my expectations. Here’s why…

So I’m finally back in the UK after an absolutely amazing month exploring Indonesia. Not only was this my first visit to Indonesia, but it was also the first time I’d stepped foot in Asia (unless you count crossing the Bosphorus in Turkey?!)

My expectations were sky-high, particularly once I’d seen the incredible itinerary from the Ministry of Tourism plotting out what they’d named the #TripOfWonders.

Lots of stories, photos and maybe even a video or two coming soon, but just as a quickie, I wanted to reveal a few of my top moments from my adventures in Indonesia. So, in no particular order, here goes…

The water was a colour I’d never seen before, and after the hot, sweaty trek to the top, I couldn’t resist but dive right into the water.

6 Incredible Places To Visit In Indonesia

Beautiful mist over the jungle at Borobudur, Indonesia

Ahead of my travels, it’s time to share a few incredible places to visit in Indonesia, including Borobudur, Raja Ampat and the Gili Islands.

So this year has been intense! A lot of travel, not a lot of time at home, and plenty of exciting opportunities. From travelling around South America visiting geysers, salt flats and volcanoes, to making a video in Croatia for Lonely Planet, there are waaaay too many highlights to list them all here.

But coming up is a trip I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I’m FINALLY heading to Asia! I’ll be touring Indonesia with Wonderful Indonesia (the tourist board) and it looks like the itinerary has it all – history, culture, art, beaches, landscapes and what’s more, I get to travel with some of my best friends! So, it’s time to find out a bit more about what I’ll be getting up to over the next month.

We’ll be visiting the world’s largest Buddhist temple Borobudur. It looks incredible! The UNESCO World Heritage Site dates back to the 9th century and is surrounded by majestic mountains,

We’ll also be checking out Prambanan – a collection of massive Hindu temples near the city of Yogyakarta. After learning all about the history we’ll enjoy a ballet performance featuring over 200 dancers and musicians in the open-air theatre inside the park!
